Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed legislation banning 24 toxic chemicals in cosmetics, making California the first to stop the use of these poisonous ingredients. (1)
“Every day, Californians are exposed to hazardous chemicals hiding in their cosmetics and personal care products. Children, communities of color and pregnant women are especially vulnerable to these ingredients, which are not actively regulated by the federal government.” ~ Gavin Newsom
It’s a good day when some of these toxic chemicals are being recognized for what they are. Victory.
However, the issue here is why does it take so long to protect people from these industries who profit off ignoring the evidence of these substances.
Furthermore, if we know they are always so far behind the curve on making sure the products we use are safe, what other chemicals are also harmful that they are dragging their feet to admit are indeed hazardous? This is a huge problem in the current medical establishment.
VACCINES
Let’s talk about their prize products, vaccines. These things still contain highly researched toxic chemicals. Why is it that the same level of critique and skepticism isn’t used for the same type of toxic compounds not placed on skin, but inserted directly into the bloodstream?
Toxic substances like aluminum, mercury, formaldehyde, PEG, polysorbate to name a few. These somehow escape the view of politicians. Their harmful effects are documented repeatedly in research but only spotlighted when referencing contact with them in water or food.
You’d think if they are unsafe in drinking water, surely we’d care if we are injecting these substances directly into our bodies, bypassing the mucous membranes altogether.
THIMEROSAL
Pharma companies say there are “trace” amounts of Hg in a vaccines dose.
Thimerosal is added to vaccines because they claim it will prevent bacterial growth. Although it has been phased out over the years, it’s still present in some shots.
Interestingly, we have been told it has been and is completely safe, yet over the years pharma has worked on phasing out the use of it, and increasing the use of other metals like aluminum.
To see how much mercury the FDA tells us in certain vaccines view link on references under 2.
The “allowable” limit of mercury according to the FDA is 2 parts per billion (ppb). 200 ppb is considered toxic hazard.
Flu vaccines contain 2,000 parts per billion and this is what we are told is “trace.” Or rather, the CDC writes that “it’s used in tiny amounts.”
Multidose flu vaccines contain 50,000 ppb which of course are considered “safe” for pregnant women and children.
In 1996, the US Environmental Protection Agency set a new guideline for methyl mercury in the diet: 0.1 micrograms of mercury per kilogram of body weight per day (0.1 µg/kg/day).
For a person weighing 140 lbs (63kg), the “safe” limit would be 14 micrograms per day for a grown adult.
The CDC indicates that 25 micrograms are being given in one dose to babies and pregnant women.
This is what the CDC has to say about Thimerosal:
“Thimerosal is a mercury-based preservative that has been used for decades in the United States in multi-dose vials (vials containing more than one dose) of medicines and vaccines. There is no evidence of harm caused by the low doses of thimerosal in vaccines, except for minor reactions like redness and swelling at the injection site. However, in July 1999, the Public Health Service agencies, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and vaccine manufacturers agreed that thimerosal should be reduced or eliminated in vaccines as a precautionary measure.” (3)
The FDA writes, “The scientific evidence collected over the past 15 years does not show any evidence of harm, including serious neurodevelopmental disorders, from use of thimerosal in vaccines.”
Multiple studies show this is false.
Here is a download with over 200 studies regarding this concern.
Also a great resource to look at is the book, Miller’s Review of Critical Vaccine Studies. (4)
ETHLYMERCURY
The CDC claims that thimerosal is safe, because it contains ethylmercury, a different form of mercury.
They claim that it is less toxic than methylmercury because it is metabolized and excreted more quickly from the body. This is what they claim, but of course there’s much more to the story.
The EPA and FDA has established a safe “reference dose” for methyl mercury. A reference dose has never been set for ethylmercury. The major issue of course, ethylmercury, unlike methylmercury, is injected directly into the body.
If the established reference dose for methylmercury is applied to the injected ethylmercury, you would have to weigh more than 250 kilograms (551 pounds) for the 25 microgram dose to be considered “safe.”
THE RESEARCH
Studies have shown that an ethylmercury disappears from the blood stream more quickly and passes more easily into the organs where it can persist. This is a problem.
A 2002 study found in Nature states, “Thimerosal is comprised of 49.6% ethylmercury (EtHg) by weight. Until early 2001, it was a component of most Hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type B (HiB), and Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTP or DTaP) vaccines. These vaccines were routinely administered to infants at birth and at ages 2, 4, 6, and 15–18 months. The cumulative amount of mercury injected in the first 6 months of life was 187.5 μg.3 Although the pharmacokinetics of EtHg have not been well studied, its toxicity is believed to be similar to MeHg.” (5)
While ethylmercury can leave the bloodstream quickly, this can actually be a major problem. A 2004 study of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences demonstrated that mice injected with Thimerosal accumulated mercury in the brain. “By 7 days, mercury levels decreased in the blood but were unchanged in the brain.” This indicates slow clearance of this toxic substance. (6)
In another study infant rats were given either thimerosal or inorganic mercury three times in their first 11 days of life, mimicking human infant vaccination schedules. The scientists then assessed the total retention of mercury and excretion over six days. The Thimerosal-exposed rats showed higher mercury retention rates in their brains. (7)
A large meta-review of relevant science examines the various ways that mercury harms the human body. This is a CDC study with their own scientists, Alkyl Mercury-Induced Toxicity: Multiple Mechanisms of Action. (8)
However, the CDC continues to maintain that ethylmercury is somehow less toxic, completely ignoring the agency’s own scientific evidence. The new CDC review directly contradicts their public claim. Some of the following is clarified in this paper:
- Both ethyl and methyl mercury impair DNA synthesis
- Both create reactive oxygen species
- Both decrease glutathione activity
- Both affect cell division
- Both alter intracellular calcium homeostasis
This is a classic case of money talking. The connections that these agencies maintain with corporate interest must be considered when observing their recommendations.
